Balance
 |
Within
yourself - there can be many barriers to feeling healthy.
Stress, depression, anxiety, emotional pain, and unwanted behaviors can all be
examples of unsuccessful attempts to balance our conflicting needs
and wants within ourselves. Our balance can also be upset by old
hurts and traumas, and early life learnings that do not fit well
into our lives as adults.
|
 | At
home - conflicts with our family and friends can often leave
us feeling upset and discouraged. Learning to balance our own
needs with the needs of others in a healthy way is not a
subject that many of us learn very well. This can often be
most difficult with our closest family, especially our husband or
wife.

 |
In
your career - no matter where you are going in your career
you will encounter difficulties with other people in the workplace.
Whether it takes the form of uncooperative coworkers, office
politics, internal or external pressures, or unexpected change, the
work environment can be a place of considerable distress.
Transitions from one role to another in the workplace usually
generate acute stress. Even
desired transitions can be the source of imbalance as we
struggle to learn the people skills required for our new role.
|
 |
In
your organization - as social systems, organizations
sometimes struggle to achieve a healthy and productive balance.
Our culture no longer prepares people to work together in effective
and efficient ways to achieve the goals of the company. These
lessons are rarely taught in our schools and universities, so it is
not surprising that corporations fail to achieve a healthy team
environment. |
